The Spreading Characteristics of Droplets Impacting Wheat Leaves Based on the VOF Model

Given the problem that droplets cannot stay on surfaces of leaves and wet them effectively, resulting in high levels pesticide input environmental pollution, this work studied dynamic behaviors with different diameters (400–550 um) falling wheat from heights (2–16 cm) using contact angle-measuring instruments a high-speed camera. The VOF method Fluent software was used to establish numerical model impacting leaves. results show an increase initial diameter velocity droplet, maximum droplet during spreading process also gradually increases. After impacts leaf, droplet-spreading first increases then decreases. rate, βmax, Weber number, βmax ∈We14, which is consistent existing theory. study lay foundation for studying spread leaves, conducive improving rate utilization.
